DO:

Hand wash with warm, soapy water using a mild dish soap. Dry immediately with a clean towel.

Oil after the first wash. Use a food-safe wood oil or TimberBowl Wood Conditioner (Coming Soon). Apply a small amount with a soft cloth to all surfaces, inside and out. Add more oil as needed until you achieve a gentle sheen.

Let oil absorb for several hours (preferably overnight) before using again.

Re-oil regularly: Condition your bowl or board at least every 6 months, or whenever the wood looks dry or dull. In dry climates or during winter, oil more frequently.

Air dry upright: After washing, stand your board or bowl to allow air circulation on all sides. Avoid storing damp wood directly on countertops or in closed cupboards.

DON’T:

Never soak your wooden bowl or board, or leave it in standing water.

Do not put in the dishwasher, microwave, or oven. Heat and prolonged moisture can cause warping or cracking.

Avoid vegetable or olive oils for conditioning; they can go rancid and may encourage bacteria growth. Use only food-safe mineral oil or dedicated wood conditioner.

Don’t let wood dry out completely; regular oiling is essential to prevent cracking.

Avoid letting food sit or rot in your bowl, as this can cause stains or odors.

Keep out of direct sunlight and store in a cool, dry place to prevent fading and drying.

For Deep Cleaning or Stain Removal:

Sprinkle coarse salt or baking soda on the surface, rub with a cut lemon, then rinse and dry.

For odors, wipe with a diluted vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 5 parts water), rinse, and dry thoroughly.
